- What is World Only in Dreams?
World Only in Dreams (also known as WorldOiD or WOiD) is a free play-by-post or forum-based role playing game which allows players to participate in creating the world in which they play. It also features a set of "Otherworld" boards where members can play beyond the main setting. For more information, see the Wiki entry. - What is role playing?
In role play of any sort, a player takes control of an imaginary character and guides them through a given setting. In forum-based role play, the game is played by taking turns writing writing one's own character, becoming something like a collaborative story. You can find out more from the Other Nifty Stuff page, which contains links to role play resources and other sites. - What/where are the rules?

We try to keep things as open as we can, mixing elements of fantasy and science fiction. To get the best idea, check out other player's characters and look at what races are currently available. And keep in mind - just because soemthing isn't there already, doesn't mean it can't be added! Even if something in particular wouldn't fit, there's always the Otherworld boards where pretty much anything goes. - What's the WOiD Wiki for?
Since the main role play setting is the entire world of Astraea, and it's encouraged that the whole world gets used, there's going to be a lot of information about a lot of different things, from locations, to races and animals, to player characters. The Wiki was set up to help keep track of everything and make it more easily searchable.
