Post Re: Home away from home
"THAT, is very politely asked. And it is a fascinating request. For the name you request is Myles Million, but whether I am that individual anymore I do not know. I know what he knew. But there are such subtle layers that have been added. What you see before you is an Amalgam. My associate and I designed a system wherein a computer could guide magical energies to produce a higher-functioning form of Chimera. So Myles Million is certainly a component of what I am. But that name no longer refers to all of me. As for the curse, conflicting parties attempted to control our work. To use it, or to destroy it. Because we could make thinking non-humans. This put me into a tricky situation. Comply with one organization, only to be killed by another. I realized the only way to win the game was not to play, so I sent the data out."

"I sent it everywhere," it said with a certain giddy glee.

Myles Million. An interesting name. Amalgam. An even more intersting creature. A chimera. A man and who knowws what else in one body. Many becoming one. Fascianting. But not something he would dare mess with. Yet while there was no happy ending quite yet it would see, it wasnt tradic either. Ofcourse while this moon elf woudl se this as bittersweet, he had no doubt that Myles saw it as the perfect ending. Yet a name for teh past was not teh name of the present.

"So then," The scholar said with a small smile, "What would one call you now? As when it comes to the name of Myles," There si a small pause, "I do not see the curs of a name that i presume is assumed dead."

"Assumed dead? Why would they assume me dead? I didn't have time to deactivate the cameras in the lab. But I did have time to raise the digitus impudicus to every single camera as I passed. And then released their coveted information beyond their control. Even the ones who wanted to use it, you see, wanted to be the only ones to use it. So they're all undoubtedly quite eager to enact whatever sort of petty vengeance on me. As for a name, if Amalgam I am, amalgam my name should be. Mylian, then. Excuse me a moment-"

The creature held up a finger in pause for a long moment.

Then the creature resumed speaking. "Sorry, someone was chasing my remote limb up there. Fortunately, it has the same powers of camouflage that my main corpus has."

Mylian..... Shian smiled to himself as the creature looked away. Now hat was very interesting. Very interesting in deed. Wait remote limbs? This guy(?) could spawn extra parts? What in the name of teh moon would let him be able to do that?

"Remote limbs?" The question was simple as was the tilt of the head. He then shook is head and took a dep breathe. "You keep mentioning spreading the information. How did you do that. What do you mean by that?"

"I did it every way I could. I sent hard copies to institutes in Nova Terra, Risengard, and Dolora, and uploaded it to places all over the network that script kiddies and hackers are sure to find it. And find it they have, last I was able to access a computer, I found no less than four variants of my original programming. Only one of them was likely to actually work, mind you, these programmers don't know how to handle the magic angle."

It stretched itself out along the wall. "As for my remote limb, it is my genius, a masterstroke of the programming. I can only hatch one at a time, but it looks like a small or young human when fully grown, and is a telepathically connected extension of myself."

Hackers? Script kiddies? What strange names the poeple above ground have. But then again they didnt matter. No what did was this remote limb. Telpathic and camoflage. And a small part of a big whole. And interesting concept. The scholar stayed silent then sowly picked up his journal and slowly found his cliffnote and began to write what he had just heard. A story liek this couldnt be just kept to the side. He must be rcorded even if it was already.

"Have you ver lost a chil- I mean limb?" Shian shook his head minutely. Where did that come from?

"A limb was killed once. It's painful, but not fatal to me. I wonder if I was killed, would the limb continue to function? Most of its brain is a psychic engine, but there is autonomic and motor function too. Likely if it did live somehow without my existence it would behave as a wild animal."

Such a sad existance it must be. To be so reliant on your parent adn not realise it. Shian shook his head minutely. HE was think of this as if he was talking of a child. he wasnt he was thinking of an extension of a whole. Or was he. He is wasnt sure anymore. He had to change subjects. Had to learn a different story. Had to stop thinking of children. The pale scholar shifted on his spot of the wall adn look around himself once more.

"Let's cahnge subjects. WHat can you tell me of this sanctuary under the city?" this ought to be an interestign subject.

"Not much to tell. There's the monsters. A few regulars who can avoid them. The occasional body dumped off where it'll be eaten and thus disposed of. And those of us who find it rather a comfortable home despite all that. I suppose that must change now, though. You've recorded my presence here. I must find another place. I've been here too long anyway, grown complacent."
